Generation “Baby Boomer”, following on from our wonderful parents, the "Silent Generation". Our mortality is certainly upon us now. If you’re like me, you’ve noticed that our heroes, artists, sports stars, actors, musicians and childhood icons are disappearing at an astounding rate.

Hello, I'm Philip Edward and I am sounding a clarion call out to you. I will scream it out. God damn, listen up! Give me the loud hailer and listen up!

We observed our parents, often mimicking their peculiar habits. In my case, falling into some traits that almost destroyed me. When my father’s health was overcoming him, I realised I was looking in the mirror at my future self. The fate "becomes me". You may have had perfect parents, but mine had as many faults as I. Yes, diamonds, rough cut, and when they glittered they were blindingly lucent and intoxicatingly beautiful.

Our children coined "Generation X" I believe, thank God, have the smarts on us. They are watching us BBs trying to make a last desperate late stand with our mortality. Or, are lovingly watching those who have dropped the ball and given up and accepted their fait accompli. With that, their tattered tickets clicked, zoom off this most exquisitely resplendent celestial ball.

Our time here is so precious. Don’t bullshit yourself. Threescore and ten is not enough. You know that. In the sphere of time, we are here for not even a drop in that eternal ocean. Human existence is but a blip on a never-ending screen. Understand that! ‘Do not go gentle into that good night.’ *No way! Not with a whimper, no way!

Don't hold back, baby. Make a big boom, Boomers. Make it happen for you.

I am here for you "X’ers" too. Please, prove to me without a shadow of doubt, that you have the smarts on us. Start now, not when you’re fifty. You have the jump on me. Come on now, make it happen.

Take it, embrace it, love it, love life!

Philip Edward
